Casting an in-person, outdoor production of “Lilies” by Michel Marc Bouchard. Synopsis: A revival of a romantic drama, Simon Doucet re-enacts for Jean Bilodeau, now a Catholic bishop, their past while rehearsing The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastien. The play deals with themes of male sexual identity, expression, and repression. This is an ensemble play and all actors will remain onstage for most of the production. All characters in this play must be portrayed by male identifying actors.
Simon Doucet (Lead): Male, 19. A young Quebecois born in Roberval. Impulsive by nature. A Pyromaniac. Known for his exceptional beauty. His fathers pride and joy. He is 19. Note: This role requires full nudity as well as intimate romantic contact/kissing with the actor who plays Vallier. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities. Requires Nudity: Yes
Count Vallier De tilly (Lead): Male, 18-19. A young Frenchman, has recently made Roberval his home. A direct descendant of the Bourbans. Known for his intelligence, but also for his delicate manners and excessive sensitivity which have earned him the nick name “Lily-White.” He is several months younger than Simon. Note: This role requires full nudity as well as intimate romantic contact/kissing with the actor who plays Simon. Ethnicity: White / European Descent. Requires Nudity: Yes
Countess Marie-Laure De Tilly (Lead): Male, 45-58. Played by a male; she is a distinguished woman in her 50’s. Vallier’s Mother. When she is not lost in her fantasies or settling her differences of opinion with her only son she is awaiting the return of her husband left on a trip to France 5 years before. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities
Simon Doucet (older)/Timothee Doucet (Supporting): Male, 59, Plays dual roles of Older Simon as well as his father Timothee. Timothee is in his 50’s and an alcoholic. He works for the De Tillys. Older Simon is an Ex Conman recently released from Prison after a 40 year sentence for a crime he did not commit. Baroness De Hue (Supporting): Male, 40-55. Played by a male actor. The Baron’s wife. Enjoys the outdoors and has a soft spot for ouananich salmon fishing. This is an ensemble play and all actors will be onstage for most of the production. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities
Mademoiselle Lydie-Anne De Rozier (Supporting): Male, 30-34. Played by a male actor. A French Woman in her early 30’s, very attractive. Owner of an aerostat. Over the years she has become an expert liar. Requires kissing with the actor who plays Simon. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities
Bishop Bilodeau (Supporting): Male, 55-60. Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations. The play will rehearse both on Zoom and live in-person and be recorded for digital streaming. Stipend: $75 – Each actor will be paid a flat stipend of $75 and have the opportunity to earn additional compensation.
